Meet Some Genuine Superheroes
Ten Phoenix Children’s Hospital patients debut custom-designed outfits that reveal their true superhero identities during a Power Play virtual video premiere Nov. 13. With a mission to help these pint-size patients feel happy and strong, 10 ASU fashion design students swooped in to create custom styles that capture the fighting spirit and unique superhero strength, power and bravery of each child. Watch their stories unfold at powerplaypch.org at 5 p.m. Typically an in-person runway event, the Power Play debut moved online due to COVID-19. Viewing is free, with donations gratefully accepted online.

Do the Time Warp Back to the 1970s
Grab your fishnets, lace up your corset and pelvic thrust your way to Celebrity Theatre Nov. 14 for a drive-in screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors in the original film) kicks off the event from the stage, along with Frankie’s Fishnets, a shadow cast that acts out the cult classic on stage while the movie plays on screen. Two parking spaces will be designated per car, so guests can watch outdoors next to their vehicle, throw all the rice and toast they’d like and scream every snappy joke back at the film. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the movie at 8 p.m. $55-$100. A VIP socially distanced meet-and-greet with Bostwick, and souvenir “lips” masks also are available. Celebrity Theatre, 440 N. 32nd St., Phoenix, celebritytheatre.com.

Glam it up in your fanciest attire or your swankest pajama set and shop for a cause as Scottsdale Artists’ School presents its annual Beaux Arts Auction in a virtual format, culminating at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 with a live wrap-up party. Original oil paintings, watercolors, drawings and sculpture by professional artists are included, along with limited juried works from the school’s student artists, as well as travel packages and other treasures. Proceeds support the nonprofit school and its programs. A link for free registration can be found at scottsdaleartschool.org.
