The 2016 Color Run Tropicolor World Tour is moving around the globe, leaving people full of endorphins and covered in color as they complete the 5K. This weekend’s stop in Tempe Beach Park is a must, as the first-ever Color Run was held in Downtown Tempe. It will be a mess worth experiencing, and the ultimate photo-op for your profile pic!
With this 5K taking the city by colorful storm in just a few days, The Color Run Team had 10 interesting facts and insights regarding the race. Registration is being accepted up until the day of the race, so there is still time to join in on the festivities.
1. There are only two rules at The Color Run: Sport an all-white ensemble at the starting line and cross the finish line doused in color.
2. Unlike most 5K races, there are no winners or official race times at The Color Run. There are plenty of other awesome 5K races out there that test speed and agility… but this is most definitely not one of them! You’re allowed to run, walk, skip, stroll or cartwheel throughout the course if you want.
3. The Color Run is the first 5K paint race of its kind and was inspired by several awesome events, including Disney’s World of Color, Paint Parties, Mud Runs and festivals throughout the world such as Holi, a Hindu celebration.
4. There’s a reason it’s called “The Happiest 5K on the Planet!” A portion of The Color Run Tempe race proceeds will go to benefit Banner Children’s.
5. This year’s Tropicolor™ theme is unlike any other year! In addition to our massive color throws, we’ve added island-inspired scents at each Color Zone. Think scents like a cooling ocean breeze, sweet pineapple, strawberry daiquiri and more.
6. Imagine this: a massive cloud of 10,000 colors from 10,000 runners at the finish line. At the finish festival, known as The Color Run Rainbow Beach, massive color throws commence every 15 minutes to welcome new runners to the finish fiesta. By that time, every inch of your body will be covered in color by our certified “color throwers” along the race course.
7. Don’t worry… our color powder is all certified non-toxic and free of any heavy metals. No worries, just good vibes!
8. We’ve been asked: “Can I run with my dog/cat/turtle?” For the safety of our runners and animal friends, we do not allow animals at the race. Sorry, furry friends!
9. Cleaning Tip: As with anything you get dirty, the sooner you wash it, the better! We suggest wearing something that you’re down to get colorful! We can guarantee that you’ll look way cool after the event but we can’t guarantee we’ll do your laundry. (For FULL color cleaning ideas and tips, check THIS LINK out!)
10. Don’t fret about the inside of your car after the race! As you cross that finish line, head on over to our massive air blowers (some call it the “Color Run blast-off station”) that will ensure a good dusting-off. Remember, you won’t be 100 percent clean, but good enough for the drive home and to take on the rest of your day!
