‘Tis the season to start slathering on sunscreen and seeking shelter in the nearest pool or air-conditioned venue. Here are some things locals and visitors alike can do all summer long to beat the heat.

Make a Splash After Dark on the rooftop at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. This 21-plus event features rotating DJs, including the Phoenix Suns’ DJ Automatic and the Arizona Cardinals’ Crisco Kidd. Enjoy delicious food and beverages from the Breeze Bar & Grill, boozy ice cream from Tipsy Scoop and yard games. Splash After Dark takes place every Saturday evening starting May 24 through August 30.

Floating Sound Baths & More
Dive into deep relaxation on a paddleboard surrounded by calming live gongs, flutes and singing bowls. Spots fill up quickly so be sure to book early. The one-hour class on Friday, May 23 begins at 7:45 p.m. Desert Paddle Boards offers other activities like lazy river water aerobics and floating yoga.

Revel Surf
Book a one-hour surfing session at any skill level on artificial, shoulder-high waves that mimic the real-life experience of ocean surfing in a 2-acre manmade surf lagoon.  If you would rather appreciate the water with your feet in the sand, guests can lounge by the water on a beach chair, rent a cabana or take a dip in the Revel Rocks Diving Pool, which extends to 25 feet deep. If you prefer sidewalk surfing, guests can also skateboard on the on-site Skate Flow Park.
COST: $40 for weekday admission for adults (14 and up); $80 per one-hour surf lesson

Odysea Aquarium
Odysea is the perfect place for families who want to enjoy the water from dry land. The Voyager takes guests on a 20-minute journey through the Open Ocean, Sea Turtle Reef, Shark Waters, and Sea Lion Sound exhibits in stadium style seating through 46-foot viewing windows. Adventurous visitors have the option to explore the African penguin habitat with an Odysea Animal Care Specialist  or gear up in a wetsuit and SeaTREK helmet to walk underwater with fish, stingrays and a shark!
COST: $37.95 adult admission (13 and up); $27.95 child admission (2-12)
