The Phoenix Rock Lottery
Just in case you’re unfamiliar with this annual event, here’s how it works: At the beginning of the day, 25 local musicians are grouped into five bands. These newly formed groups will write and perform three original songs and a cover on the evening of the concert. Anything can happen (and usually does) at this charity event for Rosie’s House, which donates musical instruments and instruction to underprivileged Valley youth. 8 p.m., $15-$20, Crescent Ballroom, 308 N Second Ave., Phoenix, 602-716-2222, crescentphx.com

Micky Dolenz
Micky Dolenz is perhaps best known as a member of the iconic ’60s pop band The Monkees, who, despite having sold more than 65 million records, has not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The last remaining member of the legendary “Daydream Believer” singers, Dolenz continues to carry the torch for the group while releasing his own albums, including an EP of R.E.M. covers in 2023. 7:30 p.m., $79.50-$94.50, Piper Repertory Theater at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St., Mesa, 480-644-6500, mesaartscenter.com
