In the ’90s, Corey and Grace Weiss were into the goth and alternative fashion scene. As adults, the married couple – he an engineer, she a health-care worker – couldn’t find the same styles that beloved brands like Lip Service and Underground UK made in the full spectrum of adult sizes. This inspired them in 2021 to start Olivia Noire, an inclusive goth and alt fashion brand they hope offers young people today the outlet they had in high school. “We want to provide a healthy community and healthy fashion line that can help folks express themselves, because the music, the art and the fashion really helped us through, you know, some of those difficult teenage struggles,” Corey Weiss says. The Phoenix-based online shop sells dresses, skirts, tops and bottoms whose aesthetic Weiss describes as “corporate goth, romantic goth and a splash of mall goth for good measure.” The Weisses work with Arizona artists, have participated in two Phoenix Fashion Week boot camps and will show a collection at Phoenix Fashion Week this fall. “Our goal is to leave a fashion legacy for our children and to grow an Arizona-based fashion brand that will become nationally recognized in the goth and alt fashion community,” Weiss says. olivianoire.com
