This colorful wall located on the side of Majerle’s Sports Grill was painted by Jake Early and Quinn Murphy. It can be seen while traveling south on Second Street, just past the convention center parking garage. A bright sun is the main focal point, but upon closer inspection, mountains and the Downtown Phoenix skyline appear. The title of the mural, “It’s Another Beautiful Day in Downtown Phoenix”, is a tribute to, and quote by, Hans Hughes, a Downtown Phoenix Ambassador who was killed in a bicycle accident last year.

This fresh work by Ashley Macias is on the side of the brand-new X Phoenix apartment complex. It can be viewed on the west side of the building, at Third Avenue and Monroe Street. The piece is titled “In Mothers Love and Nature’s Forgiveness”. According to her Instagram, it depicts “a divine connection to nature and mankind (us), our psychological layers and the overlapping constructs of reality and the metaphysical.”

These playful murals by Andy Brown and Lalo Cota are in the alley behind the Circle K gas station at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Brown’s stair steps and mountain range are detailed with his signature lines and dots, becoming more intricate the closer you get. Cota’s skeleton holds a smiling sun while reclining in a desert landscape.

This hopeful mural located on the platform of the Roosevelt/Central light rail station was painted by Artsline Spotlight Artist, Jerome Fleming. Titled “Roots”, it features a girl, inspired by poet laureate Amanda Gorman, reading in a field. The green grass and flowers evoke a sense of springtime and new beginnings, bringing a breath of fresh air to Downtown Phoenix.
