It’s an enormous weekend for one of our favorite local breweries and two others are celebrating the opening of new locations. Beer business is bigger and better than ever here in the Valley of the suds. Here’s our picks of new beer releases we’re excited for this weekend. Cheers and drink responsibly.
Congrats to the McClelland family and the rest of the team at Goldwater Brewing for hitting seven years at the Old Town Scottsdale location. The weekend party promises to be a beer lovers paradise starting Friday, April 22 with four new releases: New releases on Saturday, April 23 include: All barrel-aged stouts apparently were kept at 7% ABV in theme with the 7-years. Those are worth checking out on a warm evening in the newly revamped Goldwater beer garden.
Hop on the Phoenix Suns playoff bandwagon and enjoy the ride! Originally released last summer during the Suns postseason run, PHX Beer Co. is back with this 6.1% ABV American IPA brewed with Huell melo and pacific gem hops. Pairs well with an Al McCoy call on a three-point make.
This annual collaboration with Ground Control has landed. It’s hazy, juicy and full of citrusy flavors. Look for it at Ground Control (reigning Best of the Valley Readers’ choice winner for Best Taproom), Tombstone Brewing locations or at finer craft beer stores around the Valley. Pairs well with buzzing the tower.
Just in time for the weather to start melting your skin – or at least it feels like it sometimes – comes a crushable and light new Czech Pilsner from Helluva. Pairs well with sitting indoors under a fan and quenching a dry heat thirst.
If there wasn’t an Earth Day themed beer from Arizona Wilderness, we’d probably call the police for a welfare check. No need for an investigation this year because the Wilderness crew has not one, but two new beers for the day that recognizes the need to protect the planet. Every Day is Earth Day hazy double IPA and Dry-Hopped Don’t F*** It Up blonde ale both release Friday, April 22 in cans and on draft at both locations. Pairs well with hugging the planet – just look at the can art.
We wanted to shout out the brand new locations for some Valley favorites. After three years of planning and development, the new Downtown Phoenix location for Huss finally opened this week at the convention center. Downtown Mesa also has a new spot for craft beer drinking, as the B.R.I. Taproom Arcade opened its doors for customers in the last two weeks. B.R.I. joins 12 West, Oro, Desert Eagle and Chupacabra Taproom as craft beer destinations all within walking distance in Downtown Mesa. Cider Corps is also in that mix and a new Pedal Haus location is expected sometime later this summer.
