With the Masters on TV and Major League Baseball back in action, this is shaping up to be a great weekend to enjoy you favorite local craft beers. This week already gave us a heroic walk-off home run from Arizona Diamondbacks designated hitter Seth Beer, on National Beer Day! The moment was meant to happen and we toast Beer’s bomb with a beer — locally made of course. Here’s our picks of some exciting new releases to seek out this weekend, along with the spectacular beer-themed home run call from D-backs play-by-play voice Steve Berthiume.

Remember to nominate your favorite Arizona Athlete, play-by-play announcer, sports venue and more in our annual Best of the Valley competition.

Peachy Hazy IPA from Goldwater Brewing

Tee it high and let it fly! Goldwater collaborated with Devereux Golf clothing brand to brew a new hazy IPA with Georgia peaches in honor of the Masters golf tournament this weekend. Peachy had to make the cut, so it won’t release until Saturday, April 9 at noon. The golf will be on multiple TV’s in the beer garden at the Scottsdale location, along with food served up by Smoke Slab BBQ. Pairs well with a Pimento Cheese sandwich and listening to that one guy screaming “get in the hole” after every swing.

Spring Red at Simple Machine Brewing

Hop into warmer springtime weather with a beer that’s easy to drink. That’s the idea behind this new reddish-colored Belgian wheat ale available on draft and in cans at the north Phoenix taproom. Pairs well with getting out of the sunshine for an hour.

A fresh batch of Simple Machine’s Mexican-style amber lager Loteria is also back on draft and in cans.

North House from Wren House Brewing

Why be a triple when a double will do just fine? That’s part of the story behind this new Wren House collaboration with North Park Beer Co. out of San Diego. Originally planned to be a triple IPA, North House developed into a double dry-hopped double IPA with a heavy dose of Citra hops. Pairs well with the best laid plans.

Wren House fans should also be on the lookout for new bottles of their favorite porter Who Hit John, available at the taproom.

Radically Poetic at Arizona Wilderness Brewing

Put some music on and dive into this new hazy IPA release, part of the Dirty Hop Water series from Arizona Wilderness. Brewed with El Dorado and Belma hops, this promises flavors of strawberry and pineapple. Pairs well with a pair of tall speakers and hoping the neighbors don’t mind how loud it gets.

Orange Drumstix from Throne Brewing

Drink beer for a good cause this weekend in the northwest part of the Valley. This new hazy double IPA was brewed in collaboration with Quail Distributing and the Foundation For Blind Children, with all proceeds going to the charity. Pairs well with doing good works in the community. We’ll cheers to this one!

The Juice Caboose from Helluva Brewing

Choo, choo! That’s not the freight train David Peralta coming around — it’s Helluva’s latest milkshake IPA offering. Loaded with fruity flavors and aromas, this one promises a smooth finish with almost no bitterness. Pairs well with bringing up the rear.

Anniversary Beers at Borderlands Brewing in Tucson

We’ll finish up the beer blog with some out-of-town recommendations, as we often do. Borderlands Brewing in Tucson is celebrating its 11th anniversary with a block party on Saturday, April 9. The new Jolly Ranch Sour will be available at the party, along with the new Guava Goddess hazy pale ale and beers from 11 other breweries. Congrats to Borderlands and a toast to 11 years of brewing!

Hiline Hefeweizen at Wanderlust Brewing in Flagstaff

If you’re a mountain biker who needed another good reason to ride in northern Arizona this weekend, Wanderlust must have you convinced with this latest release. Named after the Hiline trail that near Sedona, this new hefeweizen is a light 4.6% ABV and available in four-packs and growlers to take to the trailhead — or enjoy one on draft at the taproom. Pairs well with a quiet view of the red rocks.

Fan favorite Tropical Borealis hazy IPA is also new this week on draft and in four-packs to-go.
