We’re still raving over last weekend’s Copper State Beer Fest – everything from the weather to the pours and the food trucks was sublime. It was also our first time tasting the Banana Sour/Drilling Rights Stout mixed combination from Ad Astra Brewing, which turned out to be our favorite sample at the fest. Well done by everyone involved and now we really can’t wait for the Arizona Strong Beer Festival coming next month.
In the meantime, let’s enjoy these eight new releases offered by some of our favorite local breweries this weekend. Cheers and drink responsibly!
Sticky from Cider Corps
Mesa’s cider-slinging brothers, Jason and Josh Duren, created this new honey lemonade cider to release exclusively at the 8123 Fest this weekend. The fest is a fan-appreciation concert by local band The Maine on Saturday, January 22 at Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. Sticky Cider pairs well with XOXO: From Love & Anxiety in Real Time (The Maine’s newest album).
Native Land at Arizona Wilderness Brewing
This hazy IPA comes about from a collaboration with Bow and Arrow Brewing in Albuquerque (the first indigenous woman-owned brewery in the U.S.). Brewed with Strata, El Dorado and Citra hops, this 6.4% ABV juice bomb is available now in cans at both Phoenix and Gilbert locations. Pairs well with storytelling and donating proceeds to the Natives Outdoors organization.
Wilderness also has a new sour hitting the beer fridge, named No Bad Days Man in honor of happy-go-lucky bartender Matt Myers. This one comes ready in cans or is available on draft at both locations. Pairs well with a laugh, a smile or a good time.
Comet Single Hop IPA at Tombstone Brewing
Halley’s got nothing on this one. Blast into the Tombstone North location on Thomas Road for its latest IPA on draft or in cans to go. Pairs well with stargazing and making wishes.
Premium Select at Wren House Brewing
Malt liquor meets the high life of craft brewing. Big on ABV (10%), here is a modern version of classic American-style beer that isn’t common for craft breweries these days. Available now in four-pack cans, expect boozy and biscuity flavors. Pairs well with nostalgia.
While you’re there, pick up the new Nelson hop variant of Spellbinder hazy IPA. Pairs well with winning awards.
Pineapple Jack Wagon Hazy IPA at Historic Brewing Co.
The hazy IPA we all know and love gets a big blast of pineapple juice this week. Find it on draft at the Historic locations in Williams and Flagstaff. Pairs well with food debates: pineapple goes with pizza only when it’s in a beer.
Skull It IPA from Barrio Brewing
Use your head this weekend and get to Barrio for this new juicy and fruity single hop IPA with notes of orange, mango and pineapple. Pairs well with tacos because why would you order anything else?
