This is one of the great weeks of the beer year – the week leading up to Halloween – when Fate Brewing releases its legendary Candy Bar Milk Stout. It’s worth waiting for until after the weekend, but if you’re looking for something sooner, here are seven new craft beer releases (and a pumpkin explosion) from locally owned breweries we’re excited to sip on. Enjoy and drink responsibly!
New Release Trio at Goldwater Brewing
We’re coming to knock on the door because three’s company at Goldwater starting on Friday. Look for cans of Western Migration double west coast IPA, Noble Steed pale ale and a Mosaic hop dominant variant of Hop Chowda (Goldwater’s flagship hazy IPA) to hit cooler shelves or enjoy all three on draft at either the Scottsdale or Mesa locations.
Sex Panther at SanTan Brewing
Unlike the movie quote, this double chocolate porter is not illegal in nine countries and contains no bits of real panther. It does, however, contain a lot of cocoa and chocolate malt to give it a classically smooth flavor that Valley craft beer fans have enjoyed for a long time.
D.C. Mountain DIPA at Arizona Wilderness Brewing
One of the original beers from Arizona Wilderness (once brewed in a garage), D.C. Mountain checks in as an 8.2% ABV dry-hopped double IPA named after the Dos Cabezas mountain wilderness area in Southern Arizona. It released on Thursday, so look for it on draft and in cans at the Gilbert and Phoenix locations.
Los Postres Coconut Candybar at Wren House Brewing
The flagship house stout recipe gets a sweet tooth makeover with added coconut, cacao and almonds. You can go ahead and hand out handfuls of Mounds bars to the kids on Halloween because this beer has you covered. Releases on Friday, October 22 on draft and in crowlers.
Pumpkin Spiced Ale at State 48
Go basic at the many State 48 locations Valleywide (there are six) with this new pumpkin release. Flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove spices will have you sweatered up in no time.
Candy Bar Milk Stout at Fate Brewing
Adult trick-or-treating comes early every year at Fate Brewing when it releases this sweet treat. Candy Bar Milk Stout seems to get better and better each year and we expect the 2021 version to be no different. Four-packs and cases are available for pre-order starting Friday, October 22. Its official release date for pre-order pickup and in-person sales start Monday, October 25. King Size (the bourbon barrel-aged version) is expected to release next Saturday, October 30.
The Great Pumpkin Beer Day at O.H.S.O.
From marzens to hazies to ambers to spiced lattes, pumpkin is the flavor of the day at the four O.H.S.O. locations on Thursday, October 21. Depending on which location you visit, there are up to 29 different pumpkin beers on tap from O.H.S.O. and other local or national breweries. Don’t try them all – save some for the rest of us.
