Happy Independence Day to all of our fellow Americans. May we proudly celebrate our country’s 245th birthday in style with an icecold craft beer from an Arizona brewery. Here are our picks of the best new releases this weekend. Buy your beer early since many of these spots will be closed on Sunday so their employees can also enjoy the Fourth. Drink and party responsibly!

DDH Hop Chowda from Goldwater Brewing (Scottsdale and Mesa)

I’d say this Special 4th of July Edition of Goldwater’s classic double dry hopped Hop Chowda Hazy IPA is a collector’s item, but you should drink it fresh. Check this beautiful can design and the wonderful hoppy and juicy beer that comes with it, available starting Friday, July 2 in cans and on draft. Get to Goldwater quick because these won’t last longer than a fireworks show.

New cans of Crisp Paul Pilsner are also on the shelf at Goldwater. Get some to cheer on the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.

Ph*ck Yeah Malt Liquor at Pedal Haus Brewery (Tempe and Chandler)

Join Team America by raising a glass of this classic American malt liquor. Pedal Haus says its brewed with pilsner malt, corn, beet sugar and freedom. Let freedom ring! And let it pour into my glass. Available on Sunday, July 4.

$7.04 Growler Special at Fate Brewing Co. (Scottsdale and Tempe)

This is not a new release, but rather a patriotic way to reconnect with your Fate favorites. Bring in your own growler for a staggeringly cheap $7.04 fill on Saturday, July 3. The price doesn’t include the growler, only the beer. All four Fate locations are closed Sunday, July 4.

New Releases from Tombstone Brewing Co. (Tombstone and Phoenix)

The canning machine has been working overtime as of late. Earlier this week, Tombstone unleashed several new canned beers including Cascade Single Hop Pale Ale, Most Hops, Imperial Strata Pils and New Money Pils. Look for these at finer craft beer stores around the Valley.

Whole Lager Love from Simple Machine Brewing (Phoenix)

Did you know Led Zeppelin’s lead singer Robert Plant inspired his son Logan’s love of beer? Logan Plant now operates Beavertown Brewery in London. Fun fact to impress your friends with while enjoying Simple Machine’s latest India Pale Lager – a collaboration with the folks at Divided Vine. Available right now in cans and on draft at Simple Machine; Divided Vine in Gilbert is launching it Friday, July 2.

Southern Half from Arizona Wilderness Brewing (Gilbert and Phoenix)

This annual double IPA release uses only hops native to regions in the Southern Hemisphere, which gives it a sharply bitter and fruity taste that is unlike any other DIPAs you’ll have this summer. Get this release while its available. Wilderness is also releasing a new version in the Dirty Hop Water series, called The Universe Smiles Upon You, a hazy IPA made with a small amount of blue corn. Both are available right now.

FOR THE DOGS

Woof! from Borderlands Brewing Company (Tucson)

There’s drinking with friends and then there’s drinking with your best friend. Borderlands opts for the latter with this re-release of a non-alcoholic beer for your dog. Available at its taproom in Tucson.
