Every week, we present a curated list of live music in a wide range of genres all around the Valley. This week’s lineup includes a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, a big bass-heavy electro beat bash and a heap of hip-hop.

Mark Zubia and Jesse Valenzuela

As far as Tempe rock royalty and heritage, it’s hard to imagine a better bill than Mark Zubia of The Pistoleros and Gin Blossoms guitarist Jesse Valenzuela. Folks at this free show should expect to hear a lot of great alternative rock songs to drink beer and dance to. 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15 at Old Town Tavern, 7320 E. The Herndon Brothers
Wednesday, June 16 at Handlebar J
For decades, The Herndon Brothers have been rocking the stage at Handlebar J with amazing country music, and they’re still doing it every Wednesday night, sometimes augmented by special surprise guests that have included Jessi Colter, Huey Lewis and Lyle Lovett. We Are Hologram Trio

Psychedelic jams are on tap from the eclectic trio of singer and guitarist Richard Nihil (aka I Am Hologram), bassist Pete Moore (of the band Wurmfur) and drummer Jeff Smoyer of Ghost Cat Attack. 7 p.m. Friday, June 18 at The 1227 Tap Room, 1227 E. Excision

Canadian DJ Excision headlines both nights of this Relentless Beats festival. Fans of electronic dance music can boogie to bills that also include SVUDDEN DEATH, Riot Ten, Dion Timmer, HE$H and Vampa. PHX Hip-Hop Festival – Juneteenth Edition
Saturday, June 19 at Monarch Theatre
Respect the Underground, the local promotion masterminds behind the Arizona Hip-Hop Festival, presents this smaller, more intimate festival, headlined by Las Vegas-based artist GMB 3RIO.
