To celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020, Phoenix College published Phoenix College: Our Past. Your Future. ($29), a charming retrospective coffee table book. Acclaimed local author and Phoenix College alumna Stella Pope Duarte (If I Die in Juárez) chronicles the community college’s history in a decade-by-decade look back that also touches on local and international history, from feminism to the Vietnam War to Y2K. A yearbook-style spread highlights notable alumni, which include Phoenix mayor Kate Gallego, artist Ed Mell, late Arizona governor Rose Mofford, Arizona state historian Marshall Trimble, meteorologist Royal Norman and actor Nick Nolte, among others. All proceeds go to the school’s My Future Scholarship to promote educational equity. phoenixcollege.edu/100/pc-history
