Arizona Beer Week is like the rest of us: adapting to a changing world because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of a traditional weeklong series of events, beer releases and the annual Strong Beer Festival, AZ Beer Week is the entire month of February, split into three parts to cover the three regions of the state. This first week is dedicated to the Northern Arizona craft breweries in cities like Flagstaff and Prescott. Here are some of our top picks in that area this weekend.

Rebuild the Guild Belgian IPA at Historic Brewing Company (Flagstaff and Williams)

You’ll notice a lot of new beers around Arizona with the Rebuild the Guild name attached to it this month. Make sure to buy it wherever you see it. If you care about craft beer in Arizona, this goes a long way to show your support because proceeds from the sales of this collaborative brew benefit the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, the organization that is the glue for all craft breweries in the state. The group lost its main revenue source when beer festivals were cancelled during the pandemic. Look for more of this collaboration in various styles in the coming days at places such as Fate Brewing, Pedal Haus and Huss.

Grand Opening of Ad Astra Brewing (Prescott)

This new brewery is in the Cortez Street spot formerly occupied by Granite Mountain Brewing Company. After a soft opening a few weeks ago, Ad Astra celebrates its official grand opening on Friday, February 5 with a few of its own brewed beers and other specialty crafts on tap. Get a pour of their flagship Launch Pad Hazy IPA or try the Falcon 1 Hoppy Saison. Also available in crowler fills to take home.

Archived Beers at Wanderlust Brewing (Flagstaff)

Wanderlust has embraced the monthlong aspect of Arizona Beer Week in 2021, with a new release every Tuesday in February. It kicked off this week with the release of Black is Beautiful Russian Imperial Stout. Seventh Anniversary Doppelbock comes out next Tuesday, February 9, followed by Eighth Anniversary Belgian Quad on the 16th and an Imperial Rye release on the 23rd. Wanderlust is also offering Buy One To-Go Beer, Get One Half Off on Wednesdays this month and a beer with pizza deal on Fridays.

Quiet Life Hazy Pale Ale from Dark Sky Brewing (Flagstaff)

Need an escape from the hustle and bustle of life? Escape to the higher elevations with a tall pour of the Quiet Life. This new release is a tropically fruity paradise in a glass – and at 5% ABV, you can extend your quiet time for a bit longer. Available on draft and in crowlers to take home.

Berliner Weisse at Smelter Town Brewery (Clarkdale)

Smelter Town added locally produced prickly pear juice to its classic sour recipe for a taste that is truly Arizonan. There’s only one keg of it, so snag a pint of it quick.

Beer and Whiskey Flights at Lumberyard Brewing (Flagstaff)

Beer and whiskey – name a more iconic duo! There’s no traditional beer and whiskey pairing dinner this year, but Lumberyard is offering a flight of three for $10 during Beer Week.
