Forgive me for not being able to contain my excitement for this announcement. On Monday night, Tombstone Brewing posted the big news on social media that it’s adding a second location in Arizona, moving into the Helio Basin Brewing space near Thomas Road and 40th Street. The original location is in Tombstone, Arizona, southeast of Tucson.
Tombstone, in my opinion, brews the best beer in Arizona. It has increased distribution around the state in recent years, but its popularity still makes it harder to find than most. The Tombstone staple is a juicy unfiltered IPA that bursts with various fruity flavors from a 16-oz. can. Dank Fruit double IPA, All The Hops (IPA, DIPA & TIPA) and Another Exercise in Mediocrity are among the many favorites Tombstone brews at different times throughout the year. The annual styles such as Spawn of Earp, Oregon Lots and Hops Are My Co-Pilot get fans excited for weeks in anticipation of the release. Holiday releases typically include barrel-aged stouts.
Tombstone North announced that it’s looking for a head brewer for the new Phoenix location and the folks who are leaving behind the Helio Basin Brewing Company posted that they hope to remain on staff as the brewery space changes hands.
Look for Tombstone to open its doors for the first time on Friday, tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. as of this writing.
Helio Basin posted a long, detailed farewell on its Instagram account (see the post below). We are sad to see Helio Basin go, but it is leaving the brewery in really good hands.
