The calendar still says August, but fall beers are here – like it or not! From Oktoberfest to Pumpkin ales and porters, expect to see those autumnal styles at a craft brewery near you. Here’s what’s new in craft beer this week around the Valley and the state.

The Beer Research Institute (Mesa)

  • (OK)toberfest, on draft this Friday, August 28 and in cans next Friday, September 4.
  •  2020 I Can’t Even, 8% ABV hazy double IPA. B.R.I. brewed this as a collaboration beer for the Casual Pint Ocotillo’s 4th anniversary. The release is only in cans on their anniversary this Saturday, August 29.

Bone Haus Brewing (Fountain Hills)

Copper Crypt, 8.3% ABV imperial IPA available in cans and on tap.

Helluva Brewing (Chandler)

Juice is Loose, 6.4% ABV New England IPA. The latest batch of Helluva’s flagship brew is fresh this week and improved!

Simple Machine Brewing (Phoenix)

Coly’s Fedora, 7.2% ABV milkshake IPA. Named after assistant brewer Coly and her favorite fedora, this one is fruited with pink guava and plum.

Front Pourch Brewing (Phoenix)

The Three Hopskiteers, 7.3% ABV. A special release to celebrate the brewery’s one-year anniversary. It has components of three of their top beers: grain from Jucius Malfoy, hops from 6.9 Dudes and yeast from Front Pourch hazies.

San Tan Brewing (Chandler & Phoenix)

  • Oktoberfest, 5.5% ABV Marzen seasonal beer is back on tap.
  • PebbleHead, 5.5% ABV sour IPA.
  • Summertime Haze, 6.1% ABV hazy New England IPA.

O.H.S.O. Brewery (4 Valley locations)

Seppuku, 4.8% ABV Japanese rice lager. Now available in cans, pints and pitchers.

North Mountain Brewing (Phoenix)

Bluehound Brown Ale. Brewer’s note: Notes of Tahitian Vanilla beans, in-house roasted Pecans and in-house made caramel all layered on top of a light brown ale base.

Sedona Beer Co. (Sedona)

  • Haterade, 4.6 ABV sour. Brewer’s note: A little sour, a little over-hopped, a little too hazy and a little sessionable.
  • The Juicening IPA, 5.2% ABV juicy IPA.
  • Citrus Spice, 5.4% ABV pale ale. It’s what you want, what you really, really want. A pale ale of English origin and global appeal. Balanced, clear and poppy without a parental advisory.

Dark Sky Brewing (Flagstaff)

  • Gone Smoojie’n, 4.5% ABV smoothie sour brewed with mango, apricot and vanilla.
  • Rainy Daze, 6.8% ABV hazy IPA is back in cans again.
  • Rye Guy, 4.6% ABV pale lager. Brewer’s note: A beer so refreshing, so crispy, so beer, you’ll ask yourself, “Why aren’t there more beers that taste like beer?!” Pairs well with a hot pastrami sandwich on rye.

Wren House Brewing (Phoenix)

Ingenuity, 7.6% ABV double dry-hopped double IPA. $18 for a four-pack.

1912 Brewing (Tucson)

Prickly Pear Margarita, 9% ABV sour gose.

The Hefe Is A Lie Cookies and Cream, 9.3% ABV wheat wine. This creamy concoction is what happens when you take a keg of hefeweizen and stuff it with Oreo cookies and vanilla! Available in growler fills or pours at the bar.

12 West Brewing (Gilbert)

Verso, 6.5% ABV Baltic porter. Only available at the Gilbert taproom location.
