Mark your calendars for the unveiling of a music-themed art exhibit at the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel on September 6.
The exhibit, “Pick and Play,” will coincide with Downtown Phoenix’s First Friday Artwalk and will feature two local artists, Mark Mayz and David Lizanetz, who will showcase their mixed-media musical pieces.
Artist Mark Mayz draws his inspiration from sports and rock ‘n’ roll music by combining guitar picks and acrylic paints to create legendary artists like Jimi Hendrix.
Multi-media artist and owner of Sour Apple Gallery in Glendale, David Lizanetz integrates CDs and records to create ‘80s-inspired paintings, which include UFOs and colorful cassette tapes.
The show will begin at 6 p.m. with an artists’ meet and greet and end at 8 p.m.
“We’re always looking to showcase local artists that are really doing something different,” says Michael Oleskow, the hotel’s art curator. “It made perfect sense to combine the works of David Lizanetz and Mark Mayz in one really cool musically themed art show.”
