Recently, I decided to start a graphic design account on Instagram to a) try to improve my sub-par design skills and b) find a way to creatively express how dating in your 20s is kind of the worst. (You can follow me @deletedownloadrepeat.) But, this blog is not about me, it’s about other local artists I’ve discovered during an Instagram binge. If you’re looking for some creative inspiration, or just want to look at aesthetically pleasing things, check out these four Arizona artists.
@Stichesbyk.mac
I love the resurgence of embroidery as an art form that’s popped up over the last few years. Artist Kelsey Ferchau creates everything from bandanas for your dogs to relatable designs on patches and totes.
@Whisstopher
Dana Whissen is a local standup comedian who also creates cartoon shorts/series. Her cartoons are drawn as caricatures and the content she focuses on is honest, relatable and open about her struggles.
@Meghowart
Meg Howard combines lettering and illustrations to create art at a level that I aspire to reach one day. I also appreciate that her content doesn’t stick to one particular “theme.” She’s designed pieces about Harry Potter, green tea and more.
@Jdmwild
JT’s portraits immediately caught my eye while I scrolled through the #phoenixartists hashtag on Instagram. Some of their work made me do a double-take because I couldn’t tell if it was a photo or a painting.
