2. Jazz Meets Poetry: A Centennial Tribute to Gwendolyn Brooks at The Nash – June 7
Pay tribute to literary legend Gwendolyn Brooks, renowned activist, feminist and observer of Black life, with the sounds of jazz and the words of talented poets from around the Valley including Phoenix Poet Laureate Rosemarie Dombrowski. 3. Boston: Hyper Space Tour at Comerica Theatre – June 8
In the mood for a blast from the past? Travel back to the ‘80s and sing along to Boston’s best-known songs like “More Than a Feeling” and “Peace of Mind.” Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be joining the classic rock band on tour. $75+. 8 p.m. Comerica Theatre, 400 W. 4. Pineapple Triangle at The Duce – June 10
This intersection of local artisans, music, food trucks and community camaraderie is just as unique and spunky as the name suggests. The market will feature over 50 artists and their work. 5. Prowl & Play: Kids Street Fest at Phoenix Zoo – June 10
Go nocturnal and enjoy an evening of music, magic, art and entertainment. There will be everything from an acrobatics performance to sidewalk chalk art. You might mess up your face paint, but it’ll be tough to pass up the chance to cool down at the Splash Zone or by running through a Slip ‘N Slide.
