Pint-size chefs learn basic and advanced culinary techniques in weekly sessions designed for youths ages 8-17 as they go over a new menu every day, prepare each dish and then sit down to savor their spoils. Each day focuses on a different theme, ranging from baking and homemade pasta to French fare, with recipes available to take home. On Thursdays, students compete in an Iron Chef competition, with groups judged on how well they prepare a secret ingredient. M-Th, 10 a.m.-noon ages 8-12; 2-4 p.m. ages 13-17. $160 per four-day session. Classic Cooking Academy, 10411 E. McDowell Mountain Ranch Rd., Scottsdale, ccacademy.edu, 480-502-0177.
