Labor for Something New: Expand Your Circle of Love
Digital Event
Description

This summer give yourself the gift of something new and participate in our 5-week course “Labor for Something New: Expand Your Circle of Love.” Discover together, through conversation, reflection, videos, and readings, what it means to work or “labor for love” as we consider the three directions of revolutionary love—love for others, love for opponents, and love for ourselves. We will cover five of the ten practices of revolutionary love: Wonder, Grieve, Listen, Breathe, Wisdom/Joy. Sessions are based on content from the book See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love (Valarie Kaur, 2020). Class meets virtually June 27, July 11, 18, 25 and August 1. No class on July 4. As a virtual program on Zoom, participants need to access this course through the Zoom application. Once registered, participants receive instructions for participation in the virtual course in a separate email from the Franciscan Renewal Center and/or the Faith in Action office. Optional: participants can choose to purchase, separately, the book: See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love (Valarie Kaur, 2020). Reading this book would be supplemental to the course, thus suggested but not required. The course fee does not include the book. The fee is $60.00. Pre-registration required. You can also register at the Lobby Guest Services Desk: either in person or call 480-942-7460. Online registration through the portal remains open through Sunday, June 26 at 11 pm. All other forms of registration close Thursday, June 23, at 7pm. Register at FRC.retreatportal.com
