Valley designer Heather Hassan outfitted the opulent interiors of JING’s first three locations in Aspen, Denver and Las Vegas. But for the pan-Asian steakhouse chain’s fourth outpost – a former Jason’s Deli in a Shea Corridor strip mall – she envisioned an even more “elegant, elevated and overall richer” motif. “The biggest thing was, ‘How do we take this building and completely transform it from a regular deli into a destination?’” she says.
Hassan reimagined the 9,200-square-foot space as an upscale “Art Deco meets Scottsdale meets Las Vegas” restaurant, anchored by a showstopping, ceiling-spanning chandelier. “We want you to walk in the door and kind of have an emotional moment,” she says. “I think after people leave here, they may not remember every finish in the space, but they’ll remember how the room made them feel and they’ll remember that light fixture.”
Blossom Columns
These twin Art Deco-inspired pillars unite form and function. “What they’re hiding are the steel posts that hold up the building,” Hassan says. “We had to keep them, but we wanted to make them magical.”
Custom Chandelier
Thousands of gold beads and crystal tracks were individually placed to create JING’s layered centerpiece, evoking terraced rice paddies – a nod to founder Charlie Huang’s Chinese heritage.
Burled Wood
A hallmark of Art Deco design, swirling burled wood accents add a layer of warmth and grandeur to the luxe space. “It’s not something you see typically,” Hassan says.
Counter-Height Bar
JING’s wraparound, waist-high bar area features marble countertops and ledges lined with handmade ceramic tiles imported from Turkey.
Textured Fabrics
Mohair bar stools, velvet banquettes and patterned textiles infuse the interior with whimsy and visual richness while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
