Yeah, yeah, we know… the D-backs’ season is almost over. So why dive into ballpark grub now? Well, having thoroughly explored chef Steve Tilder’s stadium-wide innovations this summer, we’re finally in a position to offer our judgement for 3 Must-Try Dishes. And there’s still a month of games left.

Hot Dog Flight

We’re gluttons for variety, which is why this trio of franks, splayed on a bed of french fries, gets our up vote. You get a Southwest-style Home Team Dog (hatch green chile, chorizo, pickled jalapeños and chipotle mayo), a Vs. Dog (which rotates with the opponent… we had an andouille sausage “Nationals” dog) and, finally, a simple undressed Char Dog. To help with digestion? Find it: Big Dawgs in Sections 105 and 324.

Nacho Bucket

Hear us out. Yes, this branded bucket filled with two pounds of goopy, crunchy nachos is gluttony personified. But compared to that Souvenir Nacho Helmet number over at A-Zona Street Tacos (Section 207), it’s James Beard-caliber. The key factor is customizability. You can get it with barbacoa, citrusy carnitas or a fajita vegetable medley. The helmet comes with carne asada only. And who needs a nacho helmet? That’s weird. Find it: Bases Loaded! in Section 109.

50/50 Stretch

Veering excitingly from the ballpark-eats norm, this 18-inch toasted baguette is crammed with San Marzano chicken parm on one half; and hot, peppery pastrami on the other. So you’re still smacking your lips on the garlicky pesto from the parm when – boom! – here comes the cured beef, and they actually go great together. Your biggest conundrum: Eat one half and then the other, or alternate bites? Game-time decision. Find it: Jefferson Street Deli in Section 120.
