You see patients from a broad range of ages. Is the variety challenging, fun or both? Do you have an age group you particularly like working with?
I care for patients of all ages, and while it can be challenging, I truly enjoy the diversity each day brings. I especially enjoy working with patients 65 and older and helping improve their quality of life as they age.
What are the advantages of using a family medicine doctor such as yourself as a primary provider, as opposed to an internist or other specialist?
As a family medicine physician, I serve as my patients’ primary point of care – managing medical conditions, coordinating with specialists and providing consistent support across all aspects of their health. I have the privilege of treating patients of all ages, often within the same family, which allows me to understand family dynamics, genetic predispositions and social factors. This comprehensive perspective enables [family med docs] to care for patients as whole individuals, not just isolated conditions.
Is there any informal specialization that happens within the field of family medicine? For instance, focusing on preventive health or serving particular communities?
Family medicine strongly emphasizes preventive care through annual wellness visits, including screenings, labs, imaging, physical exams, immunizations and lifestyle education. Our goal is to keep patients healthy and prevent adverse outcomes before they occur.
You went to medical school at Midwestern University. Was that the campus here in the Valley? Did you grow up in Phoenix?
I attended medical school here in the Valley and grew up in Arizona. This community has always been home, and I feel fortunate to care for patients in the place that shaped me.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, working out, watching movies and following professional tennis.
What shows are you streaming these days?
I’ve been watching 90 Day Fiancé and Stranger Things.
“If I wasn’t a doctor, I’d be…”
I’d be a personal trainer! Health and fitness have always been a passion of mine.
