Your adrenaline will surge when you’re coasting at blazing speeds through the cool, peaceful mountains at Canyon Coaster Adventure Park in Williams, Arizona. The roller coaster park, which also offers mountain tubing in summer and snow tubing in the winter, opened in 2022. It’s the creation of Scott and Louis Towsley and Bruce and Kim Voigt, who own and operate the Mineshaft Coaster in Big Bear Lake, California – similar in climate and geography to Williams. The Canyon Coaster track is 1 mile long, with twists and turns that lead to speeds up to 27 mph. “Guests also can use a braking system if they want to reduce the speed of the cart,” park manager Pat Follett says. “One cool feature that has developed is our ‘hat tree.’ Our staff has placed hundreds of hats that were lost by guests as they rode the coaster, on a tree adjacent to the track.” The park also has a restaurant, bar, retail shop and TVs showing live footage of the ride. “Our goal is to operate 365 days of the year,” Follett says. “And now we have a trifecta of businesses in Williams – the Grand Canyon Railway, Bearizona and the Canyon Coaster Adventure Park – making the journey to Williams a very attractive travel destination.” canyoncoasteradventurepark.com
