WATERY WALKS

Mud Tank and Frog Tank are just two of the family-friendly trails in the Munds Park Trail System. Both shady routes pass by wildlife water holes for opportunities to view elk, turkey, coyotes and waterfowl.

Getting There: From Interstate 17 in Munds Park, take the Pinewood Boulevard (Forest Road 240) exit 322 and continue 0.8 mile to Crestline Road. Turn left and go 0.8 mile (road will turn into Oak Drive) to Iron Springs Road, turn right and go 0.2 mile to the trailhead gate. Park along the street, pass through the gate and hike 0.3 mile to the big trailhead kiosk. You’ve arrived at the Iron Springs Trailhead.

  • Mud Tank Trail is 1.6 miles round trip
  • Brad’s Trail is 2 miles round trip
  • Frog Tank Loop is 3.1 miles

Elevation: 6,500-6,700 feet

Best Season: April-October
