O.H.S.O.’s Ales From The Crypt series started four years ago under the watchful eye of Brody Coffman. While his official title is Barrel Program Manager, some might call him the CryptKeeper — but we call him brilliant for the high quality strong beers his team has put out since Two Pump Chump first debuted in 2018.

Brody Coffman first came to O.H.S.O. four years ago when the owners were looking to ramp up production on barrel-aged beers. Since his arrival on the Phoenix beer scene, Coffman and his brewing team have released at least 13 different styles under the brand label Ales From The Crypt.

Some of the more popular beers from the program include Bananarchy (a bourbon barrel aged stout conditioned on bananas), Morning Grind (a coffee stout aged in whisky barrels) and Moulin Bruges (a Belgian quad that aged for 32 months in Buffalo Trace barrels).

If you missed any of these in the past or simply want to try them again, this is your week!

First up, at Strong Beer Fest in Mesa on Saturday, February 19, O.H.S.O. is serving two Ales From The Crypt beers from the cellar. A double IPA will also be available at the O.H.S.O. tent.

Then on Thursday, February 24, the O.H.S.O. Gilbert location is hosting a tap takeover event starting at 4 p.m., bringing 13 different Ales from the Crypt beers out of the cellar for a one-night-only celebration. Vertical offerings of Bananarchy and Hits From The Bung will be on tap, along with the last known keg in existence of Moulin Bruges. O.H.S.O. is also releasing several of these in cans for sale that night starting at 5 p.m.

Feb. 24 is also the release of the newest Ales from the Crypt called Cryptnosis. This 16.8% ABV brew is a blend of five different barrel types and three different beers (barleywine, wheat wine and rye wine) and comes with two added variants: one with dates and another with salted caramel and chocolate. Cryptnosis will be available in cans and on draft.

If you’re looking for something sooner, Thursday, February 17 is the annual Donut Day at all the O.H.S.O. locations. Thirteen donut inspired beers are on tap to pair with specialty made donuts from Bosa Donuts.

Friday, February 18 is a Strong Beer Fest pre-party at Kings Beer & Wine in Phoenix, where O.H.S.O. will be among several local breweries with a strong beer on draft.
