Hazy boy summer is here.
Since the temperatures will reach the 90s this weekend, can we declare it a juicy boy summer already? There are plenty of newly released hazy IPAs, light lagers and thick nighttime stouts to find all across the Valley and around Arizona this weekend. Here’s nine we’re excited for. Enjoy responsibly.
Tap That AZ Hazy IPA from Simple Machine Brewing (Phoenix)
A lovely IPA from a guy who loves to talk beer. This is the third batch of the hazy IPA collaboration between Tap That AZ podcast host Eric Walters and North Phoenix’s Simple Machine Brewing. Look for it at the brewery or on store shelves around the Valley. We found our four-pack at Trevor’s in Scottsdale, which has become our favorite place to find canned local craft brews.
Te Quiero Imperial Stout from O.H.S.O. Brewery (Four Valley locations)
Ah shucks, I love you too, O.H.S.O. This is the third edition of Te Quiero, which translates into a blended stout aged in Reposado Tequila, Reposado Mezcal, cinnamon whiskey and Sagamore Rye barrels. The 14.8% ABV slow sipper also blends in notes of vanilla, chili peppers and cacao. Fall in love all over again when this one releases on Friday, April 2.
Double release at Wren House Brewing (Phoenix)
Go light or go big. Either way you’re going home with an awesome brew from the award-winning beermakers at Wren House. First up and available right now is a dry-hopped version of its Valley Beer lager with lemon drop hops added. Next, look for Dreamy Draw double dry hopped double IPA to release on Friday. Multiple trips to pick up to-go orders are fine by us.
Bourbon Bunny from Arizona Wilderness (Gilbert)
We’re not sure what’s harder to find: Blanton’s Bourbon or the Easter Bunny. Arizona Wilderness found both! Scrap the traditional Easter chocolate bunny for a boozy pour of Arizona Wilderness’ annual imperial milk porter release. Roasted cacao nibs and vanilla beans went into this dark delight of a dessert beer that’s aged for 12 months in Blanton’s Bourbon barrels.
The non-boozy Chocolate Bunny porter is also coming out, for those who aren’t fans of strong whiskey-aged beers.
Both beers are only available at the Gilbert location.
Not So Farro Way from Tombstone North (Phoenix)
The mysterious farro grain apparently has more uses than cooking dinner. Tombstone North tapped this table saison fresh for this weekend, offering $4 pours in these fancy 16-ounce stem glasses.
Blackberry Kolsch at North Mountain Brewing (Phoenix)
Here’s one screaming at us to come enjoy on an outdoor patio in the shade. With blackberries added to a straight forward Kolsch style beer, this is about as refreshing as it gets for enjoying a cold beer. Available on draft or in growler fills to-go.
Black Gold at Goldwater Brewing (Scottsdale and Mesa)
Strike it rich in chocolate and caramel with this 8% ABV American Porter. Available on draft and in cans starting Friday, April 2.
