“I like to think flowers remind us to live in the present,” Sophie McCurley says. “They are wonderful at demonstrating that life is beautiful, but also fleeting.” From her home in the Coronado Historic District in Central Phoenix, McCurley helps people across the Valley live in the present with vase arrangements and wrapped bouquets available as one-off weekday deliveries and flower subscriptions (weekly, biweekly or monthly). The stay-at-home mom of three daughters “dabbled in different creative hobbies… but the passion in these various pursuits was never quite there.” She loved arranging flowers for friends and for her own home, though, and when her youngest started preschool, she started her online floral shop. “My aim with Sophie’s is to work with seasonality in bringing the more artful, unusual and delicate flowers into the everyday [life] of those living in our city,” McCurley says. “The kind of flowers that make you stop and take a deeper look. The goal is always to surprise and excite in the best way possible.”
