Make a pit stop in these Central Coast towns on California’s Highway 1 Discovery Route.

Covell’s California Clydesdales
Cambria’s long-running, family-owned Clydesdale ranch has a herd of nearly 80 horses roaming freely on 2,000 acres of Monterey pine forest and meadows overlooking the Pacific Ocean. New offerings include trail rides and SUV tours.

Stepladder Ranch & Creamery
In operation in Cambria since 1871, Stepladder Ranch & Creamery (pictured below) has been family-owned for three generations and specializes in handmade goat cheeses. A new tour gives visitors a peek into the creamery, playtime with the Lamancha goats, and a cheese and fruit tasting.

Hearst Castle
In anticipation of the 100th anniversary of this grandiose National Historic Landmark in 2020, The Foundation at Hearst Castle is offering guests the opportunity to swim in the mansion’s famous Neptune and Roman pools at VIP swim events this year. Swim party attendance is capped at 40, so book now.
