Kick your workouts into high gear at local boxing gyms.

Feel like your gym routine is down for the count? Kick it old school with boxing, which provides cardio and strength training. These four Valley boxing gyms offer classes tailored to people of all ages and all fitness levels.

Pound Gyms
Learn how to incorporate high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which helps you burn 500-1,000 calories per session and prevents classes from becoming rote. Six different trainers, all with different teaching styles, keep these workouts innovative and challenging. Pound offers boxing and kickboxing sessions at beginner and advanced levels. Pay $99 per month for unlimited classes, or drop in to any class for $20 per session.

This women-only boxing gym offers classes on boxing technique, MMA kicking and boot camp-style workouts. There are eight body-opponent bags and 16 stations set up to challenge you while you throw up to 2,000 punches per class. Jabz focuses on daily functional exercises, each focused on a particular body zone – legs, biceps/chest, triceps/back, abs and full-body – for a head-to-toe muscle-confusion miracle. Custom packages fit individual needs, and gym-goers’ ages range from 14 to 70-plus. New members get the first week free, and monthly memberships start at $109.

Central Boxing Gym  
Train like Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather (both popped in here in their prime) at Central Boxing Gym, where legendary boxing coach/vice president of USA Amateur Boxing Tom Garcia has been training fighters for more than 50 years. This is strictly a boxing gym – no fancy classes, just an old-school fitness regimen of running, jump-roping and bag work before the trainers put you in the ring. The gym also offers a free program for at-risk youngsters to mold life skills and biceps. Membership costs $35 per month.

Knockout Fitness
This heart-pounding hourlong workout offers a complete combination of bag-punching, kickboxing and mixed martial arts, as well as beginner and advanced jiu jitsu. Burn up to 1,000 calories in Knockout’s signature bag cages, which contain 30 150-pound Muay Thai bags. Each location has a customized boxing ring available for sparring or just working out. The gym is open to members outside of the class setting, so members can customize their own workouts sans trainers.
