KNOW YOUR CONIFERS
Here’s a simple field test to determine if a tree is a pine, fir or spruce. Look at the needles and use this “P-F-S” cheat sheet to identify the type of tree.

PINES have long, pony tail-like clumps of needles
FIRS have short, flat needles
SPRUCES have short, square needles.
