The focal point of Simon’s dining room is a greenhouse wall growing the chef’s fresh herbs and micro-greens. That’s not to say the restaurant is void of guilty pleasures. One of the signature desserts is the “Junk Food Platter” – a medley of “Hostess” products, cookies, chocolate caramel popcorn, ice cream, Rice Krispies and Fruit Loop treats, brownies and cotton candy.
Simplicity is not necessarily a common thread among Vegas restaurants. Inside the Palazzo Hotel and Resort,
SUSHISAMBA fuses Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian flavors, music and aesthetics. The thump of Brazilian beats, plus vibrant color and light accents, create an energetic backdrop for this tri-cultural restaurant.
Robata-grilled meat, as well as fresh sushi, ceviche and sashimi provide exotic fare for food aficionados and novices alike. Dishes are served in small-plate fashion to encourage an interactive dining experience, and if you’re having difficulty navigating the extensive menu, waiters will gladly design an eclectic sampling of selections for you.
SUSHISAMBA is also known for its diverse drink menu, ranging from beer and sake to a cornucopia of fresh fruit cocktails.
WHAT TO DOAfter dinner at SUSHISAMBA, stay at the Palazzo Hotel and Casino to enjoy a live production of
Jersey Boys. The Tony Award-winning musical, which wittily details the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, draws crowds of nostalgia-seeking Baby Boomers, theater junkies and anyone looking for an evening of music and amusement. The show begins with a modernized version of “December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)” and ends with a curtain call that leaves the audience dancing.
If you’re like many Vegas travelers, jamming in limitless activities could easily lead to needing a vacation from your vacation. Enter
Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace.
This colossal 50,000-square-foot sanctuary, which espouses the calming and healing powers of water, recreates a Roman bathing experience by providing treatment, relaxation and rejuvenation aplenty. Social baths ranging from 72 degrees to 104 degrees stack next to each other as an overhead rain shower and waterfalls pour throughout the hydro-heavy environment.
With the exception of couples’ body treatments, the retreat is separated by gender. Each side offers a variety of body treatments, therapeutic massages, saunas, lounges and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Avid golfers can schedule a hypnosis session to improve their game, while those who simply want to be spoiled can unwind under the massaging jets of a Vichy shower.
Undisputedly, the coolest element of Qua, and perhaps all of Las Vegas, is the Arctic Ice Room. The room, which draws numerous celebrity guests, includes a heated floor and heated benches, a shaved ice fountain, mint-infused air and snowflakes that fall from the domed ceiling. Whether you want to cool down after sitting in the sauna, escape the triple-digit temperatures outside or pretend you’re anywhere but the desert, spend some time in Qua’s exclusive frosty haven. After all, it doesn’t always snow in Vegas.
