Orthopedic Trauma Surgery

Med school: Duke University

Years in practice: 6

The TV show MASH inspired me to be a doctor.

I love my specialty because: I love to solve complex problems, and I like working with my hands.

My best day on the job so far was when: Every day I have the privilege of taking care of people is a gift.

My worst day on the job so far was when: I did seven surgeries with appendicitis (I thought I had food poisoning!).

If I weren’t a doctor, I would be: an attack helicopter pilot.

When I’m not working, I love to: play with my daughters, shoot, play my drums and spend time with my family and girlfriend.

I should know better as a doctor, but I just can’t help indulging in: cheeseburgers, French fries and pizza.

If I could change anything about health care, I would: create a
comprehensive statewide trauma system.

Medical marijuana: Yay or nay? Nay

If my patients could describe me in three words, they’d say I am: tall, courageous and a cowboy.

Best TV medical drama ever: MASH
