After more than 20 years of being the doctor’s doctor, Valley physician James Dearing will help ensure high-quality healthcare for patients of all walks of life across the U.S.
Dearing was elected in September to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a society that represents more than 93,000 physicians and medical students across the nation who work to provide healthcare for citizens of all ages, races, genders and economic backgrounds.
As a board member, Dearing will serve a three-year term, during which he says he hopes to help promote healthcare for all.
“I’ve been active my whole life,” Dearing says. “I’ve always believed you can’t complain about things if you’re not willing to do something about it.”
Dearing currently treats more than 6,500 Valley patients, of which about 100 are local doctors themselves.
He has served as president and CEO of Lincoln Primary Care Physician Group, an association of about 1,000 physicians. Dearing has also been involved in several other organizations, including Phoenix General Hospital, Southwest Ambulance Company and the Sick Child Day Care Center.
When he’s not heading up organizations and working in his private practice, Dearing teaches two classes at Arizona State University to pre-med students. He also trains medical students, interns and residents at John C. Lincoln Hospital, in hopes of inspiring those who really want to be doctors.
“I believe in giving back to the community,” he says.
