Since 1977, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has sponsored medical and dental clinics for the Valley’s working poor. Today, more than 160 medical professionals volunteer their time at the organization’s Virginia G. Piper Medical & Dental Clinic Downtown, serving more than 12,500 patients each year, many of whom have no medical insurance and live at less than 200 percent of the federally recognized poverty level.
The clinic also offers medical and dental education classes, including a family diabetes class, and serves as a place where medical, dental and nursing students can obtain real-world experience.
