Welcome to the dog days of summer. Since the Valley is collectively pouting about the heat, we thought it might be a good time to provide a refreshing cocktail recipe that you can make at home. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria recently rolled out a couple of summer cocktails, including the Berry Ginger Fizz that's guaranteed to be a showstopper come cocktail hour.
The recipe calls for ginger beer and it’s important that you use beer rather than ginger ale, according to the folks at Grimaldi’s. Otherwise the drink will be too sweet. And if you’ve never encountered elderflower liqueur, it’s readily available at most liquor and grocery stores around the Valley. Cheers!
Berry Ginger Fizz
1½ oz. Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka
1 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
½ oz. Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
¼ oz. Monin Pure Cane Syrup
5 each fresh raspberries
3 oz. Goslings Ginger Beer
3 fresh blueberries (for garnish)
In a pint glass, add ice and all ingredients, except ginger beer. Add ingredients to shaker tin, cap shaker tin and shake for 5-7 seconds. Add ginger beer to mixture in shaker tin and roll to combine all ingredients. Pour into a pint glass and top with fresh ice if needed. Garnish with three fresh blueberries.
