We've been fans of Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, since our food writer Wynter Holden's April 2014 review of the first Arizona location at Town & Country shopping center in Phoenix. We love the kitschy, retro-chic décor, the free coffee while you wait, the friendly service and, of course, the bevy of breakfast options. Where else can you get pancake flights and breakfast pot pie?
We cheered when the Gilbert and Tempe locations opened, even setting up interviews with East Valley sources at them so we could kill two birds with one stone – great interview location and a delicious breakfast. When we heard the Denver-based hash-slingers were setting up shop in Kierland Commons, just across from our office at Scottsdale Quarter, we were ecstatic.
Before this new development, our breakfast options were limited to quick breakfast burritos and to-go sandwiches from Press Coffee Roasters and C3. Delicious, but you can't beat the breadth and depth of Snooze's menu, from six hollandaise options and huevos rancheros to pineapple upside-down pancakes and breakfast cocktails – for the weekends, of course.
This Sunday and Monday, Snooze is celebrating their new opening by giving back to the community with two pre-opening fundraisers. On Sunday, August 23, they're raising money for the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. On Monday, August 24, they're accepting donations for Whispering Hope Ranch Foundation. It officially opens on Wednesday, August 26.
We'll be there both days, stuffing our faces with scrambles and that unbeatable breakfast pot pie, and on many days after their grand opening celebrations. Breakfast will no longer be a snooze 'round these parts.
