Zorroz, produced in Tempe, starts with a high quality tomato concentrate and a proprietary blend of spices, but two things make it stand out. First, the mix is made with fresh onions, garlic and chiles, including fresh jalapeños and habaneros. Second, the mix doesn’t contain a stitch of horseradish. Frankly, it doesn’t need it. It has plenty of buzz from the chiles.
Find Zorroz ($9) at all AJ’s Fine Foods, the Urban Grocery and Luci’s Healthy Marketplace. On weekends, you’ll find Fran and Rick Rons, marketing managers for Zorroz, at the Saturday Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market and the Sunday Ahwatukee Farmers’ Market.
