Kaleidoscope Organic + Raw Cold Pressed Juice

One of the hottest food trends for 2014 is not solid food, per se. It's juice. Juice bars are popping up all over the country, but Alexandra Maw, co-founder of Kaleidoscope Juice, was well ahead of the curve. In October 2012, Maw and her mother, Andrea, opened their first organic, cold-pressed juice outlet in north Scottsdale. They have since grown steadily and organically, pun intended, opening a new location inside Spiritual Gangster, a new yoga clothing store in Old Town Scottsdale. They plan to open another in Downtown Phoenix this winter.

"I like to think of our juices as healthy made fast," she says. If $10 for a bottle of juice seems pricey, consider it takes up to seven pounds of produce to extract enough juice for one 16-ounce bottle. Maw also insists on using only organic fruits and vegetables, as well as herbs and spices. Many of the 15 or so juice blends were named after friends, like "Trinity," a pleasantly green blend of kale, spinach, parsley, celery, turmeric root, ginger and lemon. "Gold" tastes sweeter, with green apple, lemon, ginger and cayenne for a spicy finish. Earthy and slightly sweet "Dusti Beet" contains red beets, beet greens, spinach, celery, green apple, lemon and ginger.

Maw offers juice cleanse programs – from a one-day reboot to a seven-day "transformative" cleanse – but you don't have to commit to cleansing to appreciate the delicious, fresh taste Kaleidoscope juices can bring to your daily nutritional routine. Drink them for their taste – and consider the health benefit a bonus.
