This Sunday we celebrate the most important woman in our lives — Mom, of course. Finding a present worthy of her sacrifices and generosity is tough, especially if you’ve waited this long to start shopping. (Although, take a look at our Mother’s Day Gift Guide for local goodies that’ll please Mama in a pinch.) That’s why the gods invented brunch, which gives the moms what they really want – time with their kids. Plus, mimosas.
We’ve rounded up five Phoenix restaurants celebrating moms of every style with eggs, pancakes and lots of love.
For Classy Moms
LON’s at The Hermosa Inn
If your mother loves the finer things in life, and you’re looking to pull out all the stops, LON’s is your brunch destination. The patio surrounded by a lush garden of flowers in every color imaginable is a show-stopper, and the three-course brunch special features luxe options like lemon ricotta crepes, blue crab eggs benedict and Kahlua chocolate mousse. What mom wouldn’t love sipping mimosas at a resort with a view of Camelback Mountain? Price is $75, and reservations are required.
5532 N. Palo Cristi Rd., Paradise Valley
For Quirky Moms
This sandwich shop is one of the most unique around. If your mom loves trying new things, she’s got to check out the crispy circular sandwiches from Zookz. These toasty guys are made in a special sandwich press, and the result is basically a gourmet version of an Uncrustable. This Mother’s Day, Zookz is having a buy-one-get-one deal on a variety of breakfast sandwiches, one with poached eggs, feta, tomatoes and basil, for example. It’s hard to go wrong with a toasted sandwich, so Zookz is a well-rounded place for moms with kids of all ages.
100 E. Camelback Rd., Phoenix
For Hungry Moms
If hors ‘d'oeuvres and champagne don’t cut it for your mom, a hearty Italian meal might be more her style. Chef Cullen Campbell has put together a special three-course Mother’s Day menu with decadent dishes like gnocchi and brisket bolognese, with goose egg, pork rinds and kale, not to mention a rich seasonal tiramisu. Price is $35 per person, and reservations are recommended.
3603 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix
For Casual Moms
Organ Stop Pizza
Nothing says casual like all-you-can eat pizza. If your mom prefers to do without all the fuss, Organ Stop Pizza has got you covered. Treat your mom to a slice and salad for $12. That includes entertainment, too. As the name might suggest, Organ stop is known for, what else, an organ pipe, also known as the Mighty Wurlitzer. Mom will get dinner and a show, but she can leave the heels and sundress at home. Tickets for the event must be purchased online ahead of time.
1149 E. Southern Ave., Mesa
For Thrifty Moms
If your mom is an extreme couponer who loves scouting out the best deals, make her proud with this brunch on a budget. This Sunday at Crepe Club, moms eat free. No strings attached. This deal is perfect if your heart is in the right place, but your wallet is on the light side. Afterall, it’s the thought that counts.
