ACTIVE PURSUITS

In a partnership of epically hip proportions, SuTRA Midtown yoga studio offers weekly, hour-long Vinyasa “flow” classes on the Clarendon Hotel’s newly redesigned sky deck, commanding majestic metropolitan views.

“It’s [about] just being on a roof and connecting with the sky and the high rises and city around you,” says Rebecca Fritz, co-owner of the studio. “It’s very different from being in a studio.” Many attendees make a morning of the event by grabbing post-exercise brunch downstairs at Gallo Blanco. The Sunday morning class is free for hotel guests, $10 for SuTRA members and $15 for everyone else. Participants can register and pay beforehand on SuTRA’s website – and should do so early, Fritz says, as the classes usually sell out.

For a free alternative, check out the studio’s SuTRA in the Park series, a monthly class held in nearby Coronado Park. Simply show up under the trees with a yoga mat; no registration is necessary, and the class is kid-friendly. 602-253-9525, sutramidtown.com.
