Get into the holiday spirit with a 25th-anniversary performance of the Christmas classic.’Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for a mouse king, some sugar plum fairies, Russian dancers, gingerbread soldiers and, lo, a handsome prince. This season, Ballet Etudes celebrates its 25th-anniversary performance of Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet The Nutcracker.
The Gilbert ballet school, founded in 1986 by professional dancer and choreographer Sharon Seder Meko, mirrors the experience of a professional ballet company for local youth ages 9 to 18, plus brings in seasoned dancers to join in their annual shows.
Eight performances will be held at Chandler Center for the Arts, from Friday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Dec. 2 to Sunday, Dec. 4, with two performances on Saturday. From Friday, Dec. 9 to Sunday, Dec. 11, Mesa Arts Center will host the ballet company’s final four shows. Tickets start at $16 at CCA and $22 at MAC. For more information, visit
