loewslakesidespa.comThis impressive property features 398 luxurious rooms and 26 suites, all set against the purple-ochre majesty of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, but no one will blame you if you spend your entire vacation at the spa. The 7,000-square-foot retreat features Arizona-centric treatments that showcase local products.
To wit: the Sedona Sacred Clay Energy Restorer (80 minutes/$185), a full-body scrub with juniper cedar wood desert salt body polish followed by a detoxifying Sedona-sourced clay body mask. As you snuggle into your warm cocoon wrap, therapists reenact a traditional American Indian soul-cleansing ritual by burning white sage, presenting sacred totem stones and playing ceremonial music.
Rates: Through September 1, buy one spa or salon service and get the second service half off. A variety of room packages are available on the resort’s website, too, with deals such as 20 percent discounts when you stay for three nights or more.
Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa2250 W. Hwy 89A, Sedona

sedonarouge.comThis sleek, contemporary hotel is set on Sedona’s main thoroughfare, but you’ll feel miles from the madding crowd at its soothing spa, which sports clean, Andalusian-accented architecture and access to the resort’s pool. Majestic Thunder Mountain is the backdrop, while Sedona’s mystical vortexes (spots of concentrated energy) and crimson landscape inspire the spa’s unique treatments.
The Desert Renewal (90 minutes, $190) cleanses the body with ancient volcanic ash; detoxes with a wrap of wild-harvested herbs to stimulate the immune system; then finishes with a soothing butter cream massage, leaving you feeling loose yet rejuvenated. Chakras feeling out of whack? Align them with Sedona’s Seven Sacred Pools treatment (60 minutes, $130; 90 minutes, $190), which anoints your seven “energy centers” with seven oils and warm river stones. Therapists focus on the mind as well as the body, with sessions such as clairvoyant coaching, guided visualization, psychic attunement, spiritual acupuncture and past-life regression.
For maximum serenity, stay in one of the spa suites upstairs; some rooms feature oversize tubs as centerpieces.
Rates: Check the spa’s website for creative specials. One offer includes two nights in a premier room, a horseback-riding adventure at the nearby M Diamond Ranch, meals in the hotel’s Reds restaurant, and a $250 spa credit for $1,006 double occupancy.
