It’s a common quandary among Valley food and wine lovers: Where can we dine and bring our own bottle? The choices are slim, but these six restaurants do BYOB best.

Unlike many other states, where most restaurants allow BYOB, Arizona has strict rules. BYOB restaurants can seat no more than 40 patrons and can’t hold a liquor license. That narrows the choices for those who love to wine and dine, but there are a handful of good options. Here are a few restaurants to get you started. And if you really want to be a class act, tip as if your bottle were on the tab.

ATLAS BISTRO

This eclectic hideaway is tucked inside one of the Valley’s best-stocked wine shops, AZ Wine Co. The organic, local menu is Southwest-influenced and changes daily, but the ginger duck breast with exotic mushroom and hibiscus red wine reductions is a signature dish. Try it with a Santa Barbara pinot noir. Corkage fee: $10.

Polish food isn’t quite haute cuisine, but this place turns out dishes that are hearty and rustic rather than heavy and heart-stopping. Stuffed cabbage, pierogi, kielbasa, hunter stew and an addicting pork goulash pair well with a dry German or Alsatian reisling. No corkage fee.
