Now the “sisters,” who adopted a third soon after the company was created, include Debra McKee, Rita Offutt and Mary Heldenbrand. Twisted Sisters’ Designs specializes in creating handmade, original pieces of jewelry with twisted wire, fine silver and handmade glass beads. The PMC ring, set in precious metal clay and fused with dichroic glass (5), retails for $75. The flower-stacked PMC ring, made of precious clay and adorned with rattling beads (6), retails for $85.

Designs is “an affordable luxury,” says storeowner and designer Tracy Baumbach. “It’s fun, and most of the jewelry is customizable.” Baumbach specializes in precious gemstones and one-of-a-kind jewelry made from recycled material such as old wedding rings. The 10-carat kunzite oval starburst ring (7) retails for $1,000. The 14-carat garnet ring (8) from the Recycle Collection is made of pyrope garnet, recycled gold and .78-carat diamonds.
