Pool sharks accustomed to grimy dive bars may balk upon seeing Rack Scottsdale’s gleaming pool tables, plush leather benches and rows of shiny new cues. The upscale billiards lounge aims to be “chill with a lot of open space,” says owner Ed Archuleta.

Each table has a dedicated “rack server” to ferry a full menu of appetizers and drinks – try inventive cocktails and Rack’s signature Moscow mule menu – to players between setups, and professional billiards instructors are available to help you up your game (call in advance to reserve; inquire for pricing). If you’d rather gamble on cards than stripes vs. solids, stop by for poker night every Monday. Fret not, night owls – Rack may look (and smell) nicer than a dive, but its hours are comparable, and you can close the place down at 2 a.m. daily.
