Whether you’re a classic car collector revving up for a season of scouring for that one coveted vehicle to complete your collection or a gawking gearhead taking in the nice rides, Arizona’s annual bevy of car shows and auctions is a boon for all auto lovers. January is a monster month for famous spectacles and lesser-known events alike, all of which are sure to get your engine running.

• Probably the most illustrious car show Arizona has to offer, this nine-day pageant rolls into Scottsdale on January 14. Complete with 1,600 cars and more than 350,000 annual attendees, Barrett-Jackson is “a lifestyle event, not just a car event,” says vice president of marketing Megan Jones. If you’re able to switch gears from the world of cars, an indoor polo match kicks off the first weekend and an Arabian horse show brings the event to a close.

Russo & Steele
• Throw it in reverse and back it up through the decades as this five-day auction features more than 800 classic cars in Scottsdale. The self-styled “epicenter of the collector car universe,” Russo & Steele blends a mix of domestic and exotic autos including a 1954 Mercedes convertible, a 1966 Shelby GT350, a 1969 Ferrari and more. This will give an all-around experience for any automobile enthusiast looking to add an impressive car to his or her collection.
