Autumn is finally here, and while we may not have crisp breezes and piles of crackly umber leaves underfoot, we do have a fun season-marker of our own: the return of farmers’ markets in full force, blanketing every corner of the Valley in their locally-grown, hand-picked, homespun bounty. To find the market nearest you and its fall-spring hours, consult this handy guide.

Town & Country Farmers’ Market
Wednesdays: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Highlights: Great shopping and restaurants for pre- or post-market fun.

Open Air Market at Phoenix Public Market
Wednesdays: 5-8 p.m.; Saturdays: 8 a.m.-1 p.m.;
Food Truck Fridays: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Highlights: Farmers’ market staples in a sprawling park mean fun for the whole family, including pets.

Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market
Saturdays, 7-11 a.m.

Highlights: Apple cider, Amish friendship bread, craft items and proximity to Old Town’s shopping and art galleries.

Singh Farmers’ Market
Saturdays: 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
8900 E. Thomas Rd.
Highlights: High-quality compost and vegetables; hardcore farm cred.

East Valley
Agritopia Farmers’ Market and Farm Stand
Wednesdays: 4-8 p.m. (farmers’ market); 24 hours a day, seven days a week (farm stand)

Highlights: The farm stand has refrigerated produce available around the clock and operates on the honor system: Take what you need and leave whatever amount of money you feel is right in a pay slot. Agritopia also participates in the Gilbert Farmers’ Market.

Peoria Farmers’ Market at Park West

Sun City Farmers’ Market
Thursdays: 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Highlights: Less packed than its weekend counterparts.

Farmers’ Market Pro Tips: Bring your own bags – some vendors don’t supply them. Bring money for cash-only vendors, but ask about credit cards. You could group your purchases into one transaction.
