Work it Out: 5 Boot Camps to Tone, Tighten and Lighten

If you’ve gone through the exercise of putting on your summer duds and they’re feeling a little snug, you’re probably discouraged right about now.

If you’re looking for a quick – but by no means easy – way to get in shape, you might check out an exercise boot camp. You can make a short-term commitment to losing some weight and tightening your muscles, which will lead to feeling better about yourself in the long term. Here are five boot camp opportunities to get you moving.

Arizona Training Lab’s boot camps are for all levels – from beginners to skilled athletes. The 45-minute classes, offered Monday through Friday, intersperse high- and low-intensity aerobic exercise. Classes meet several times throughout the day. Buy an annual membership and get unlimited classes for $124 a month, or go month to month for $144. Excludes Saturdays.

Off the Grid Fitness

If you’re not sure about this boot camp idea, Off the Grid Fitness offers a complimentary three-day pass to give it a try. Expect drills to test your agility, speed, endurance and strength while moving through stations for 45 minutes. Off the Grid also offers spin classes, TRX, personal training and a complete weight room with cardio equipment. Pay month to month for $49 and get unlimited classes.

Phoenix Adventure Boot Camp

Adventure Boot Camp promises a “jump start” to your fitness program, with a four-week outdoor plan that includes fitness, nutrition and motivational training. Meet at 5:30 a.m. at Dreamy Draw Mountain Preserve Park Monday through Friday for an hour of exercise in the desert for $299. (Three times a week program also available for $199.) All fitness levels welcomed.

Rockstar Boot Camp

This co-ed boot camp “unleashes the most intense, no fluff, get-yourself-in-shape 40-minute workout you’ve ever seen.” Get cardio, strength training and stomach-flattening exercises in one inside/outside workout. Pay $97 for 21 days. After that, choose from nine different packages that include month-to-month or annual options. Special rates are available for nurses, teachers, EMS, firefighters, police officers and military members.

Team [FIT] Fitness Boot Camps

Located in Gilbert, Team [FIT] offers a program that’s designed for maximum fat burning, weight loss and building strong and lean muscles through daily workouts. The program is tailored for men and women ages 18-60. Currently, Team [FIT] is running a special promotion - two weeks of unlimited classes for $20. Meets at Redeemer Church Gym, 950 N.
